In this introduction to Wilderness Guiding in Cold environments you’ll build upon the learnings of the first 3 modules of the WG training program. You’ll deepen your skills on individual preparation on the Go Prepared protocol including risk management, emergency response plan, route planning, leave no trace, nutrition, and equipment.
After, you’ll venture into winter terrain with skis and pulkas, where you’ll navigate through complex snow terrain while managing your and your group’s energy levels. Shelter building and outdoor cooking can be very challenging in these conditions, so you will need to work as a team. Then, during the solo part of the experience you will put into practise everything you’ve learnt and deepen your connection with the nature of this harsh environment.
Our highly skilled and experienced instructors will share with you all their knowledge accumulated over the years. It is a truly privileged place to be where you’ll learn from the best. Quickly you will find out that the hard skills are only part of the story and that controlling your mind is just as important. You will become a highly skilled and confident winter conditions guide.
