WILDERNESS GUIDE LEVEL 1

The Wilderness Guide Level 1 course is our most complete and diverse training taking place in different ecozones, temperate forest, cold/arid environments. This 5-week course is spread out over a year and will give you the opportunity to learn and work at the same time.

Besides preparing and training on your hard skills, a positive learning curve and developing your soft skills as a natural leader are key. An open mind, open will, open heart and a reasonable physical shape are fundamental requisits to be able to join our trainings.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

PRACTICAL PERIOD
WG LEVEL 1 REQUIRES THE COMPLETION OF A PRACTICAL PERIOD OF 28 DAYS.
6 days of preparation/planning 22 days in the field with a WGA certified guide (at least 50 % of the time)

  • 6 days of preparation / planning
  • 22 days in the field with a WGA certified guide (at least 50% of the time)
  • required to obtain the WG1 certification

The Wilderness Guide level 2 is only accessible after completion of the Wilderness Guide Level 1 course (first 3 modules + 28 days of practical period). On some occasions we can allow students to access it without Level 1, a clear summary of experience and personal motivation would need to be provided and will be carefully evaluated. In this case, the official EWES certification of Level 2 can only be issued if the Level 1 is completed in a later stage. Please contact us for more information.
