WILDERNESS GUIDE LEVEL 1

The Wilderness Guide Level 1 course is our most complete and diverse training taking place in different ecozones, temperate forest, cold/arid environments. This 5-week course is spread out of a year and will give you the opportunity to learn and work at the same time.

For us, a positive learning curve and developing your soft skills as a natural leader and grow as a person are more important than learning from books or focus on hard skills only. Anybody with a positive learning attitude, an open mind and a reasonable physical shape is welcome…

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • Be aware of and conscious about your personal limits and growth.
  • Possess a positive attitude at all times.
  • Be able to transmit sustainable practices to minimize environmental impacts.
  • Function as a key figure and communicator in social and culturally sensitive situations.
  • Possess a profound understanding of participant’s behavior and apply leadership techniques  in order to manage group dynamics.
  • Be able to plan, evaluate risks and execute multi-day activities in wilderness areas.
  • Possess survival and other outdoor skills relevant to specific environments.
  • Be able to develop and execute business cases relevant to the work field.

PRACTICAL PERIOD OF 28 DAYS:
  • 6 days of preparation / planning
  • 22 days in the field with a WGA certified guide (at least 50% of the time)
  • required to obtain the WG1 certification
